Teenager Fat tend to Acne

Teenager Fat tend to Acne
Does your body fat? Are you a teenager? A survey conducted in Norway revealed that young women who are obese or significantly overweight acne prone than their peers of normal weight. The researchers looked at weight, more specifically, body mass index (body mass index, ratio of weight to height) that inhibits the initial conditions in general adolescent skin.

Young women who are overweight, "may think that acne is worse than the truth. This possibility is more to the matter of confidence, "said Dr. Robert Kirsner, professor and vice chair of the Department of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery at the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami.

"Very possibly, but not known that girls androgen excess caused by obesity also has a greater addictive effect on acne," said Dr. Kirsner. It may also be due to psychological effects on young women is greater than the teenage boys that increase stress hormones on the girls with acne as a consequence.

The findings of the Norwegian team, chaired by Dr. Jon Anders Halvorsen of the Department of Dermatology at the Oslo University Hospital and a faculty member at the University of Oslo is expressed in the Archives of Dermatology issue of January 16, 2012.

The researchers showed that 10-20 percent of teens struggling with acne the level of being and many of those who experienced serious psychological issues surrounding low self-esteem and difficulty socializing. At the same time, more and more children are mired in a condition called obesity epidemic.

To explore the relationship between the two, the researchers conducted a survey involving 3,600 people age 18 and 19 years Norway. The respondents were asked about drinking or smoking habits, mental problems and eating habits, especially about sugar, sweets, chocolate, fresh vegetables, fish and chips.

Those who are overweight have a body mass index of 25 or more, while obesity is characterized by body mass index of 30 or more. Only 10 percent of girls and more than 15 percent of teenage boys who are overweight, less than 40 percent of both genders were categorized as obese.

After calculating the various possibilities that affect the risk of acne, it was concluded that being overweight is associated with acne risk in young women and not in boys. However, it should be noted that this study showed no evidence of a causal relationship.
